One of the most popular castle in Europe
Not without reason Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most famous and most visited castles in the world. Sitting enthroned on rugged rocks 200 meters above the village, the castle of Ludwig II, King of Bavaria could be right out of a fairytale.
After a 1,5 hour drive to Hohenschwangau, you may take a 30 mins hike up the mountain or you take a ride up in a horse driven carriage to reach the main gate. On a guided tour you may discover the pompous living quarters and ceremonial rooms.
Church of Wies & Oberammergau
World Heritage Site
After a traditional lunch break we’ll drive on along the Bavarian alpine upland in direction to Oberammergau, world famous for its passion plays.
A worthwhile short stopover might be the “Pilgrimage Church of Wies”, UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
Linderhof Palace and Zugspitze
On top of Germany
If you still haven’t gotten enough of imposing structures we’ll take a quick side-trip to King Ludwig’s Linderhof Palace or the impressive Benedictine monastery Ettal which was built in the 14th-century.
