Linderhof Palace

From forester´s house to Royal Lodge

Linderhof Palace or also known as the “Royal Lodge” is located in the beautiful Graswangtal valley near the village Ettal. Linderhof is the smallest of King Ludwig II ‘s three castles and the only one which was completed. Linderhof was said to be the king’s favorite castle. The wonderful park, surrounded by the mountains invites you to a nice litte walk. Another optional stop over might be the impressive Benedictine monastery Ettal which was built in the 14th-century with its beautiful gardens. A slight detour to the little monastery shop is rewarded with its home made herb liquor and home brewed beer.

After a couple of minutes drive you will reach Oberammergau, world famous for its passion plays (premiere in 1634) and “Lüftelmalerei”, facade paintings.

Please calculate with a minimum of six hours.

This tour combines well with the Neuschwanstein Castle Day Tour.
